Due to our large increase ,Menasha High School is the second school in the nation to test drive Overdrive Media Station.
At its heart, OverDrive Media Station is an introduction. It's the first experience many of students will have with our OverDrive catalog, so we made it simple. With touch and swipe gestures at touchscreen stations, patrons can sample any title and send it to their favorite device for checkout.

End of the Year Library Materials Due Dates
- Menasha High School Students and Staff - 5/2/2014 (due to remodeling) - Staff should also have any materials they need for beginning of next school year checked out at this time.
- Middle School Students - 5/23/2014
- Middle School Staff - 5/30/2014 - you may keep a few things through the last week
- Elementary Students - 5/23/2014, inventory will begin 5/19/2014, so last day for bringing classes to library is 5/16/2014.

Summer Reading Event
We will be holding a Summer Reading Event for all parents in our district in the Clovis computer lab on Tuesday, May 13. Please share this information with parents. We will show parents how to use Overdrive, so reading continues over the summer. Overdrive makes it easy, since students never have to leave the house to check out books. We will also have summer reading ideas for all the grade levels on hand. The event is from 3:45-6:00pm. Parents can simply stop in any time during those hours. Any parent who visits will be registered to win a Kindle.

First Book - Book on Wheels a Huge Success!
Many teachers took part in Books on Wheels. I would like to thank Lou Hull and Paula Ducas from the Appleton School District for organizing the event, all those who participated, and the literacy coaches who helped me sign everyone up for the event. Menasha School district staff received 10,000 free books. This is the last year we could participate in the event.

A New Look at World Cultures
Announcing 4 new programs, 15 minutes each, grades 5-12, all aligned to the Common Core and State Standards. Each of the programs describes one of four elements -Geography, Economy,Social Organizations, and Beliefs & Values - that define what a culture is. Each of these main subjects is broken down into key sub-elements, showing their great diversity in world civilizations. This multi-disciplinary approach leads to a critical understanding of cultures, which is a learned behavior by individuals as members of a social group. Subjects: World Geography & Cultures, World History,U.S. History & Geography, Economics, Sociology & Anthropology, World Religions

"Flip It" and BYOD!
CCC! is Perfect for a Flipped and
"Bring-Your-Own-Device" Classroom.
Flipping and BYOD are two of the newest tactics in the 21st Century classroom. Flipping involves watching educational videos outside of class and using class time to complete activities related to the video. BYOD stands for "Bring Your Own Device," where students have their tablets and smart phones readily available to use within the classroom
Here are a few ways students can use CCC! with these new digital strategies:
Jigsaws. Students can be placed into groups where they investigate different videos and work together to complete an activity. They can teach the rest of the class their specific skill set or present their activity.
Learning Stations. Students can rotate based on pre-assessment results. One station can be video related, with comprehension questions or with interactive software, and in-line with the unit's themes.
Debate It. Videos make perfect background for live debates in class about a topic. They get students thinking about the issues and then brainstorming on their own before the live debate. With the BYOD policy, they can use the rich content on CCC! for their research!
